Young People Attracted to Myanmar's Beaches 07 Mar 2013 Explore | 4 comments

There’s a steady flow of young, fun-loving tourists in surf shorts and bikinis who want to be seen on Myanmar’s finest beaches. It is easy to see why.

Young Tourists

The country is a magnet for young adventurers. According to recent travel statistics, 53 percent of people who came to Myanmar (Burma) in 2011 were between 21 and 50 years old. About 38 per cent of visitors explored the country independently.

Most travelers are lured to Myanmar for its natural beauty, history and isolation. But many young vacationers would still like to add a little bump-and-grind to their trip. The warm sands of Myanmar are the best spots for it.

You can discover quite a mix of international tourists. Asian visitors still make up the majority of travelers to Myanmar at 66 percent, but western Europe accounts for 21 per cent of arriving guests. Visitors also are coming from France and Italy, Thailand and the U.S. Myanmar is a great place to connect with interesting people from all over the world.

Laid-Back Beaches

You won’t find the screaming nightclubs or packed beaches of Thailand, but you will discover a more laid-back beach vibe in Myanmar. The beaches are never crowded, but they’re always fun.

Ngapali

There’s the always beautiful Ngapali Beach. With direct flights into the area, this spot is sure to gain more attention from those looking to mingle on the sand. Featuring high-end resorts framed by natural beauty, this may be the most likely spot to one day rival the party scene found at other popular Southeast Asia beaches.

Ngwe Saung (Silver Beach)

Check out the awesome sands of Ngwe Saung, which offer a number of different spots to stay. Unlike pricier locales, this beach area is home to a mix of both luxury resorts and reasonable hotels that a budget-minded younger crowd can afford.

Chaungtha

Chaungtha Beach is normally quiet and secluded during the week. But these pristine shores get busy during the weekend, when busloads of locals flock here for a little R&R! This beach is also in the early stages of being developed for tourism, andone day might rival the more popular Ngapali Beach to the north. This is great spot to interact with locals and tourists. The nearby resort village is where visitors grab a drink or hit the dance floor. This area is located five hours away from Yangon.

Mergui Archipelago

This archipelago in the sea off the southern coast of Myanmar contains some 800 islands, many of which have lovely and empty beaches. In many instances, the entire island is empty... except for you. Few of the islands have resident populations, so nightlife consists of walking the beaches under the stars. Diving, snorkeling and swimming are limitless and enchanting activities for young visitors.

ya, there are def a lot of European girls on the Myanmar beaches that are traveling thru SouthEast Asia, same types you see in Thailand. The nightlife scene for sure will fall into place fast, its inevitable as more tourists catch on, you can see it happening already, so if like quiet, go now...

two girls, we went to ngwe saung and loved it, we lucked out and met some other travelers on the beach that we hung out with for days, we were surprised at how many other backpackers were there, sand and water is first class, its a pristine place, not a major party spot, very laid back
