Nightlife Recon: Sky Bistro 27 Feb 2013 Food & Drink | 1 comments

Living the highlife is easy in Yangon and it doesn’t get much higher than the Sky Bistro. It’s on the 20th floor of the tallest building in Myanmar.

The Bistro layout is designed to take advantage of the view: There are large windows on all sides so you can peer out at the busy living going on in Yangon. The most spectacular view is the one that neatly frames the Shwedagon Pagoda. It’s practically the perfect way to see the sights while enjoying a couple of glasses of wine.

The menu is a bit basic but the food is perfectly palatable and to be fair if you get a seat near a window you’ll be too busy gaping out of it to really notice what you are eating. You should get there before sunset to enjoy a cocktail as the city is bathed in the multi-coloured spectacle of rays breaking over the horizon.

Seated around you will be plenty of local business professionals, expats and tourists, It is a nice environment for striking  up a conversation if you roll solo.

Sky Bistro is a fabulous venue for a romantic meal for two, or for a business meeting where you really need to wow a client. The views also make it a great option for early evening drinking before heading out into Myanmar’s nightlife. It’s a great way to start the night, because the bar closes at 10:30 p.m.

Craving something else? We've compiled a whole database of the best places to eat and drink in Yangon. Bon apetit!
