China is the largest foreign investor in Myanmar (Burma) by a wide margin—including in the key areas of energy, mining, infrastructure, and manufacturing.

China has nearly turned Myanmar into a client state. Thailand is the second largest foreign investor, and is especially strong in oil and gas, manufacturing, and mining.
